First United Methodist Church in Fremont, CA is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative accompanist to support our music ministry, including congregational singing, a chancel choir, and occasional special music. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of traditional and contemporary musical styles to our Sunday services and foster a joyful, participatory atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Play piano (and organ, if possible) for our weekly 10:00 am Sunday services and special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter)
- Accompany our Chancel Choir at our Wednesday evening rehearsals, working with the Choir Conductor.
- Collaborate with the Pastor, Choir Conductor, and Worship Committee to select music that aligns with liturgical seasons and service themes.
- Provide a variety of musical styles, blending traditional hymns with contemporary, uplifting, and reconciling music.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in piano performance is required; organ proficiency is highly
- Experience in accompanying a vocal choir and special music
- Passion for worshipping God and cultivating a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment through music.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with the Pastor, musicians, and congregation members who contribute to a meaningful music ministry.
Working Conditions & Schedule
- Sundays: Weekly Sunday service (includes pre-service practice/choir warm-up).
- Wednesdays: Evening choir rehearsal – typically one hour in
- Salary: The salary range is between $30 and $45 an hour for up to 15 hours a week, based on experience.
