Geneva Presbyterian Church (GPC), has an immediate opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the Minister of GPC in facilitating church operations, communications, and records. This is a part-time position requiring a commitment of 25 hours per week. Most, but not all, of the hours will be on site at our church Offices in Potomac, MD.
Responsibilities for this position include:
· Working with the minister, the music director, and the chair of the Worship Committee to coordinate
weekly worship services and produce printed Bulletins and other materials.
· Preparing and scheduling the weekly email listing of upcoming church activities and other email
announcements.
· Entry of financial data into the church’s pledge tracking system.
· Purchasing services, supplies, equipment and other materials for the church.
· Posting videos and reference materials to the church website.
· Assembling and disseminating the monthly newsletter via e-mail and print.
· Managing phone calls, mail, and scheduling on behalf of the Minister.
· Maintaining records required for the church, the Session of GPC and by the National Capital
Presbytery.
· Facilitate efforts by volunteers in the congregation by assembling reports, preparing
announcements, sending emails, photocopying materials, and managing the church calendar.
Successful applicants will have the following skills and traits:
· Applicants should have at least three years prior office administration experience.
· Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite, Windows 11, desktop publishing and graphics tools,
and other software products including Adobe, Zoom, and email tools such as Constant Contact
· Experience using Financial and/or accounting systems
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational abilities, with careful attention to details
· Willing to take initiative and manage tasks independently
· Outgoing, welcoming, and eager to assist church staff, members and visitors
· Personal discretion and respect for church members’ privacy and confidentiality
· Trustworthy and collaborative in performing job duties
