Part-Time Custodian Job Description
Position Summary: The part-time custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the church building. This position helps ensure that the church facilities are ready for worship services, meetings, programs and special events. The person in this position is expected to treat church property, staff, members, visitors, and personal information with respect and discretion and to contribute to a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters the church.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Clean and maintain all common areas, kitchens, restrooms, offices, meeting rooms, hallways, and worship spaces.
· Vacuum and mop floors and clean other floor surfaces.
· Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, doors, and other areas.
· Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
· Clean and sanitize restrooms including sinks, toilets and floors. Replenish restroom supplies.
· Clean and sanitize kitchens.
· Report maintenance, safety or building concerns to the Pastor/Head of Staff.
· Assist with occasional setup and cleanup for church events.
· Maintain cleaning supplies and notify appropriate person for reordering.
· Follow proper procedures for the safe use and storage of cleaning products and equipment.
· Perform all other tasks that may be assigned or requested within the general scope of this position description.
Requirements:
· Dependable and responsible.
· Able to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
· Takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming church environment.
· Able to communicate effectively with church staff and volunteers.
· Must have a valid driver's license.
· Must be able to pass a background check.
· Custodial and/or Cleaning experience preferred.
· Able to safely perform the physical duties of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving light equipment and supplies.
· Knowledge of the operation and care of standard cleaning equipment.
· Flexible schedule.
· Ability to work up to fifteen (15) hours per week.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to work as a team player.
Hours: Twelve (12) to Fifteen (15) hours per week
Compensation: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending upon experience
