I. Overview
The Production and Technology Director provides technical, operational, and team leadership for multimedia production and technology. Their primary goal is to create excellent, distraction-free environments that support people in encountering Jesus and engaging fully in the life and ministry of the church.
This role oversees the technical execution of weekend services, special events, and other ministry environments, with primary responsibility for lighting, video, broadcast, and information technology systems. They ensure that the people, equipment, and processes are in place for the production team to function effectively and grow.
II. Primary Functions and Responsibilities
- Production Vision & Culture
- Champion a production culture that values excellence, preparation, creativity, flexibility, and service.
- Establish and maintain clear standards for technical and visual execution across campuses.
- Evaluate how technology and production can better serve the mission and ministry of ALC.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop production volunteers and leaders.
- Build a leadership culture that develops and empowers capable team leads,
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and technical training for production teams.
- Weekend Services and Event Production
- Oversee technical areas including:
- Lighting systems and programming
- Video switching, cameras, screens, and presentation systems
- Broadcast / livestream systems
- Audio systems in auditoriums and multi-purpose rooms
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure contingency plans exist for critical systems.
- Support production needs for special services, church-wide and ministry events.
- Partner with the Creative Director to translate visual creative concepts into the physical environment, and the Worship Pastor to facilitate technical aspects of worship ministry.
- Participate in service and event planning processes to facilitate technical requirements.
- Ensure appropriate multi-site consistency in production quality and technical execution while accounting for the needs and capabilities of individual campuses.
- Collaborate closely with the contracted lead audio engineer on system setup, maintenance, and volunteer audio team development and training.
- Information Technology
- Provide front line support for computers and related peripheral devices, tablets, printers, displays, and wifi access points for church staff during the office workweek.
- Manage user logins, permissions, software installation and licenses, and web based information and content management systems.
- Coordinate with outside technical support for advanced support needs.
- Document procedures and train key staff and high level volunteers on the troubleshooting, operation, and regular maintenance of systems used for weekend services (ie. check-in stations and label printers, point of sale systems, and classroom small AV systems).

- Production volunteers and leaders are continually being recruited, trained, developed, and released into greater responsibility (including opportunity for youth to serve and grow).
- Communications, Worship, and Production work collaboratively from creative concept through final execution, with production and technology systems supporting that process.
- Equipment is well-maintained and technology investments are planned rather than reactive.
- The Production and Technology Director is primarily focused on developing and equipping people rather than becoming the indispensable operator and maintainer of technical systems.
IV. Core Competencies

- Strong technical knowledge of live production environments and systems, including:
- Video switching (experience with Blackmagic systems preferred)
- Large format screens (experience with LED screens and Nova processors preferred)
- Presentation systems (experience with ProPresenter, ProVideoPlayer preferred)
- Lighting design and setup (experience with LightKey or similar DMX control software preferred)
- Production cameras and lenses
- Network switches, routers, protocols, and wifi access points
- Audio mixers and control systems (experience with Allen & Heath and/or Behringer mixers, Waves, Dante, and MIDI control preferred)
- Experience and comfort level with Apple computers and devices, printers, and office equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.

- Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteers and leaders.
- Ability to remain calm and lead effectively in high-pressure live environments.
