POSITION OVERVIEW
The Worship / Creative Pastor is called to lead our church into the presence of God through excellent, Spirit-led, modern worship. More than simply a music position, we are seeking an expert musician with a shepherd's heart, a builder's mindset, and a leader's instincts. Working hand-in-hand with the Pastor, Music Director, and AVL Teams, this person will shape the weekend music experience from the ground up: casting vision, arranging music for a variety of instruments and settings, and disciple-developing musicians and vocalists from within our congregation. The ideal candidate is highly professional, well-networked in the worship and music community, and just as comfortable building a team as building a set list.
Above all, we are looking for someone whose love for Jesus is evident and contagious, a worshiper first, who leads our teams, our church, and our community into an authentic encounter with God.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Worship Leadership & Planning
- Plan and lead engaging, Spirit-led worship experiences for weekend services and special gatherings, with musical style and song selection that reflect a modern, contemporary worship sound.
- Coordinate music, media, and the overall flow of every worship service in close collaboration with the Pastor and Creative Director.
- Coordinate all vocal and instrumental performances at worship services, working with the Pastor and Creative Director in the planning process.
- Direct the worship teams and lead band and vocal rehearsals, sound checks, and run-throughs that are efficient, excellent, and spiritually focused.
- Personally lead worship from the stage as a primary vocalist and/or instrumentalist, modeling authentic, Christ-centered worship.
- Provide musical accompaniment for services, weddings, and funerals as needed.
- Plan and lead worship for additional services and events, including baptisms, prayer nights, outreach events, and special services throughout the year.
Music Direction & Arrangement
- Create chord charts, arrangements, and full music charts as needed to equip the band and vocal teams.
- Create and manage tracks (click, backing, and production tracks) to equip the band and vocal teams for a polished, professional sound.
- Arrange music for a variety of instruments and settings, from full band weekend services to acoustic or stripped-down environments.
- Catalog and organize all music resources, chord charts, and track libraries.
Team Recruiting, Development & Culture
- Recruit, disciple, and develop musicians and vocalists from within the church family, building a healthy pipeline of homegrown worship talent.
- Recruit, train, and oversee outside/guest vocalists and musicians as needed, bringing them into Grace Church's culture, integrating them with the in-house team, and vetting them to ensure they carry our vision and heart for worship.
- Schedule all paid and contract musicians for services and events.
- Provide musical coaching and spiritual mentorship to worship team members, helping them grow in both skill and character.
- Shepherd the worship team pastorally, building genuine relationships, praying with and for team members, and creating a culture of encouragement, accountability, and joy.
- Coordinate team-building and training activities that strengthen both the musical and relational health of the team.
- Manage in-house team culture, fostering unity rooted in humility, excellence, and love for Jesus rather than performance.
- Identify and raise up emerging leaders within the worship ministry, creating pathways for growth into team lead and volunteer leadership roles.
- Maintain regular team rehearsals and communicate weekly with team members via email, text, or Planning Center Online (PCO).
Production Technical Oversight
- Oversee the audio, video, and lighting elements of weekend services and events to ensure an excellent, professional, and Spirit-honoring worship environment.
- Collaborate with (or directly oversee) the production team to plan and execute stage design, lighting design, and visual elements that support and enhance the worship experience without becoming a distraction.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success in this role means our church consistently experiences worship environments where Jesus is glorified and the presence of God is tangibly felt, services that are excellent in execution but never performance-driven. It means a worship team that is growing spiritually and musically, led by a Pastor/Director whose own love for Jesus is evident to the team, the congregation, and the surrounding community. It means musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers who were developed from within our own church family, and guest musicians who were welcomed, discipled, and fully aligned with our culture, are leading together with the same passion they were shown.
