The Systems Engineer provides technical leadership, engineering expertise, and system support for live production environments. This role is responsible for the reliability, integration, deployment, and maintenance of production systems across audio, video, lighting, LED, networking, communications, control, and power infrastructure.
The Systems Engineer designs, maintains, troubleshoots, and improves technical infrastructure to support the creative and operational goals of worship services, conferences, and special events. This role also plays a key role in production load-ins and load-outs, system deployment, preventative maintenance, documentation, and long-term infrastructure improvements while maintaining the standards and procedures established by the Production Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production systems across audio, video, lighting, LED, communications, networking, control, and power infrastructure.
- Provide technical support to staff, ministry teams, and volunteers for production equipment and systems across campus venues.
- Configure and support Dante networks, LED systems, Clear-Com communications, video routing, fiber, and other interconnected production systems.
- Diagnose complex technical issues and proactively identify potential failures before they impact services or events.
- Lead and support production load-ins, load-outs, and temporary system deployments with a focus on efficiency, organization, safety, and proper equipment handling.
- Support production power distribution and the safe deployment of flown and ground-supported equipment within established electrical and rigging practices.
- Establish and maintain standards for system installation, cabling, termination, labeling, rack organization, and infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including signal-flow diagrams, rack elevations, network documentation, LED maps, system configurations, and equipment inventories.
- Perform preventative maintenance, coordinate repairs, and maintain backups of critical system configurations and files.
- Assist the Production Director with system design, infrastructure planning, equipment evaluation, capital projects, and long-term technology improvements. Coordinate with IT, manufacturers, vendors, integrators, and contractors as needed.
- Assist with church-wide events and productions as directed by the Production Director.
