Cedar Creek Church Worship Pastor
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Status: Full-Time | Exempt
Position Summary
The Worship Pastor is responsible for leading and developing the worship ministry of Cedar Creek Church by creating Christ-centered, engaging weekend worship experiences that help people encounter Jesus and respond to the gospel.This leader will oversee every aspect of the worship ministry, including worship leadership, volunteer development, and service planning, while building healthy teams that execute with excellence. Rather than simply leading music, the Worship Pastor is responsible for cultivating a thriving worship culture, developing leaders, and ensuring every worship gathering is spiritually meaningful, quality, and aligned with the vision of Cedar Creek Church.
Primary Responsibilities:
Worship Leadership
- Lead congregational worship with authenticity, humility, and excellence.
- Plan and lead engaging weekend worship services in collaboration and alignment with the Lead Pastor.
- Select songs that are biblically faithful, congregationally engaging, and aligned with the teaching theme.
- Lead rehearsals that prepare volunteers spiritually and musically.
- Foster a culture that values participation.
Weekend Service Planning
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to design worship services that clearly support the biblical message.
- Help shape the flow, transitions, and overall experience of every weekend gathering.
- Ensure services are executed with consistency, intentionality, and excellence.
- Participate in creative planning for special services and seasonal events.
Worship Ministry Leadership
Build and lead a healthy worship ministry through intentional volunteer development.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruit new musicians and vocalists.
- Identify and develop future worship leaders.
- Create clear pathways for onboarding, training, and serving.
- Coach volunteers spiritually, relationally, and musically.
- Build a culture of encouragement, accountability, and excellence.
- Raise up volunteer leaders who can help shepherd the ministry.
- The goal is not simply to fill positions, but to develop people.
- Oversee the worship experience for youth.
Volunteer Development
Develop a sustainable volunteer culture by:
- Recruiting and onboarding new volunteers.
- Training musicians and volunteers.
- Developing team leaders.
- Creating healthy serving rhythms.
- Caring for volunteers spiritually and relationally.
- Celebrating wins and cultivating ownership.
Ministry Administration
- Manage Planning Center for worship scheduling and service planning.
- Maintain song libraries, arrangements, and service resources.
- Coordinate worship ministry communication.
- Assist in budgeting, equipment planning, and resource management.
- Participate in staff meetings and church-wide ministry initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Be an ordained pastor
- Demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a life marked by biblical character.
- Fully embrace the mission, doctrine, vision, and values of Cedar Creek Church.
- Possess strong musical ability with experience leading congregational worship.
- Have demonstrated experience leading volunteers and developing leaders.
- Be highly organized with strong planning and communication skills.
- Be proficient with Planning Center and common worship technology platforms (Ableton, Multitracks, etc.).
- Lead with humility, emotional maturity, and a servant's heart.
- Work well within a collaborative staff culture.
- Have 3-5 years of experience leading worship in services exceeding 300 people.
