Position Overview
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Custodian who takes pride in maintaining a well-kept environment. This role is essential to the daily operations of the church and directly impacts the experience of our congregation, staff, and visitors.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain cleanliness across all areas (sanctuary, classrooms, offices, nursery, kitchen, restrooms, and common spaces)
- Perform routine cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing
- Conduct regular building checks (locks, lighting, appliances, thermostats, etc.)
- Handle minor repairs and report larger maintenance needs
- Monitor building and grounds, including debris removal and basic upkeep
- Coordinate with and oversee outside contractors when needed
- Set up and break down rooms for church events
- Maintain inventory and order cleaning supplies
- Ensure safety and operational readiness of the facility
- Respond to church-related communications within one business day
What We’re Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- 1–3 years of custodial or maintenance experience (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic math and ability to follow written instructions
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate cleaning equipment
- Dependable, trustworthy, and responsive
- A positive attitude and respect for the church’s mission and values
