Custodian (Part-time)

Position summary
The Part-Time Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and basic functionality of Ridgewood United Methodist Church. Responsibilities include routine janitorial work, event setup and support, and light maintenance.
Supervisor
Reports to the pastors and Trustee Chairs, in connection with Staff-Parish Relations Chair and Administrative Assistant.
Hours and Pay
16 to 20 hours each week at $16/hour.
Position Overview
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms; restock paper products and custodial supplies
Clean sanctuaries, hallways, classrooms, offices, fellowship halls, and kitchens, as appropriate. This includes: vacuuming carpets; sweeping and mopping floors; dusting furniture, fixtures, and surfaces
Remove trash and recycling
Prepare spaces for worship services, meetings, and special events
Perform light maintenance, including changing light bulbs, air filters, touching up paint, and minor repairs
Provide basic grounds care, including debris removal and snow or ice clearing from walkways and entrances
Maintain custodial equipment and monitor inventory of cleaning supplies
Perform other duties as assigned in support of church operations
Qualifications and Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking
Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as ministry needs require
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within a faith-based environment
Willingness to complete Safe Sanctuary training in accordance with United Methodist policy
Must pass a background check
Valid driver’s license or other forms of reliable transportation
Custodial or maintenance experience preferred but not required
