Worship Lead
The Worship Lead is someone with a mature, vibrant, and deep love for Jesus Christ who is both passionate about and gifted in leading people in worshiping and serving God. The Worship Lead is responsible for leading the worship and production ministry on their Location. Which includes the musical worship, overseeing all audio/visual components, and developing volunteer teams and leaders.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- Have a deep, growing love for the Lord
- Proficiency in voice and piano or guitar
- Proven ability to create, coordinate and lead a worship experience with a team with at least one year of church staff experience or two years as a volunteer leader
- Audio/visual experience in live production environments
- Ability to learn and use Planning Center and ProPresenter software
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to stand for several hours and to lead with load in and load out. Must be physically able to bend and stoop, climb stairs, or access floor office space via chair lift, and carry and lift objects (up to 50 lbs.)
- Professional representation of Journey Church and the Lord in all things
General Responsibilities:
- Enthusiastically support the mission and vision of Journey Church
- Support the vision of the Worship Director for worship ministry
- Facilitate a growing culture of encouragement and passion in worship ministry
- Coordinate Planning Center for your Location
- Input songs (decided in Core Meeting)
- Schedule band & techs
- Determine keys & assign song leaders
- Manage declines & open spots
- Input Giving Moment/Next Steps info from communication document
- Lead weekly worship and production environments at your Location. This will include preparation of all equipment and at times, being “hands-on” with audio, lighting, and video in Sunday services
- Lead setup and teardown of all AVL components of the weekend worship and production
- Build and disciple a team of volunteers to cover weekend worship and production positions as part of Leadership Development
- Intentionally identify and develop emerging Leaders and Coaches as part of the Journey Worship Leadership Pipeline.
- Lead volunteers in weekly rehearsal sessions
- Regularly communicate and provide pastoral care to the Location worship, production, and setup/teardown volunteers
- Develop annual proposed Location Worship Ministry budget in consultation with the Location Pastor and Worship Director as well as the Location Production budget in consultation with the Production Director
- Participate and help accomplish major worship projects, special events, and worship ministry goals
- Coordinate and lead the musical worship and band for Journey Student gatherings on your location with the goal of developing leaders to make it entirely student led
- Assist with other special music/worship events as needed
- Lead and serve in spirit of cooperation and collaboration with the leadership of Journey Church
