POSITION SUMMARYThe Sacristan Intern at Trinity Church NYC assists the Sacristan team with the coordination and production of church services in the sacred spaces of Trinity Parish (Trinity Church, the Chapel of All Saints, and St. Paul's Chapel). Sacristans play a supporting role for clergy, volunteers, and staff. The Sacristan Intern position is suited for someone who is organized, has a flexible schedule, and who wants active, hands-on experience with the details of producing minor to major liturgical events at a historic Episcopal parish in New York City. The Sacristan Intern must work on Sundays.
Hours Per Week: Up to 30 hours a week | Sunday - Friday | Pay Rate: $20 an hour
To be considered you must be a student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. The Internship will run from June 1st, 2026 - July 31st, 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Fill in for vacationing Sacristan team members
- Help run church services, e.g. work with volunteers, assist in setting up, executing, and breaking down church events
- Complete administrative tasks
- Tag team on special projects for the department
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES- Excellent written and oral communication
- Attention to detail and punctuality
- Confidence in leading volunteers and working with people of all backgrounds and ages
- Public speaking skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to complex and stressful situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Technological aptitude (web apps, Chrome, Google Docs, etc.)
- Creativity and motivation to identify and solve problems
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS- Currently enrolled student in an accredited university/college
- Experience as a volunteer in the Episcopal Church and liturgy is a plus.
- Recommendations from school, clergy, or other church-related fields.
