The Social Media Specialist at University Baptist Church (UBC) will help implement and maintain outreach strategies and congregational communication through all available media. The ideal candidate will support church marketing and outreach, and assist in brand consistency across platforms. They will be responsible for creating marketing materials, including event graphics and advertising, and content for church social media accounts. The Coordinator will be responsible for the internal and external communications and marketing strategy of the church, including weekly communications and live posts of church events. This person will coordinate with ministers, staff, and church members to promote church ministries.

University Baptist Church is looking for a talented Social Media Specialist to create and maintain a strong public presence for our church. Your role is to implement internal and external communication through all available media. If you are tech-savvy, like taking pictures and videos of church events, and have experience with desktop publishing, we would like to meet you.
12-15 hours/week at $20/hour
Responsibilities:
Create church communication materials.
Facilitate brand consistency across platforms.
Publish the weekly newsletter The Word and other periodic congregation communications.
Create content for weekly video boards.
Maintain church website in coordination with other staff members.
Take pictures and videos of UBC events, and create engaging text, image, and video content.
Design posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around church activities.
Design posters for sandwich boards to publicize events (VBS, Rise Against Hunger, Myers Lecture Series, etc.).
Create advertisements for local print media, including using free listings to publicize UBC events via community print avenues (Cville weekly, Daily Progress, Cville Tomorrow, etc.).
Work with ministers and staff to create banners and posters to advertise church events.
Attend worship each Sunday at 11am and other events as needed to take pictures and post updates on social media.
Respond to comments and DMs or direct relevant DMs to ministers for a response.
Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics.
Responsible for maintaining internal signage.
Attend weekly staff meetings at 10:00 am on Tuesdays.
Requirements:
Experience coordinating communications.
An artistic eye to capture engaging photos and videos.
Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and video).
A basic understanding of the theological perspective of University Baptist Church.
Experience attending or working in a church is a big plus.
Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels.
Excellent communication skills.
