Role OverviewThe Grow Pastor leads the discipleship pathway of The Cross Church, a catalytic leader helping people move from connection to spiritual maturity. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all Growth Groups, discipleship programs including next generation and adult ministries, and spiritual formation initiatives that align with the mission of The Cross Churchto spread Gods fame by making disciples of all people.
The Grow Pastor serves as both a shepherd and strategistequipping leaders, building community, and creating clear on-ramps for every person to take their next step in faith, belonging, and service.

Office HoursMonday Thursday 8AM to 5PM

approximately 8-10 hoursIn addition to office hours and regular ministry schedules on weekends and Wednesday nights, this position is also expected to make pastoral care visits, attend next generation events and others special events as needed. More than 40 hours per week will be necessary and expected at times.Responsibilities and Expectations
- Provide vision, strategy, and development of a dynamic, biblical, and Christ-centered discipleship ministry.
- Develop programming and opportunities that will facilitate the spiritual growth and personal discipleship of all age groups, including growth groups, Bible studies and discipleship events.
- Supervise the age-group ministry staff members, including the preschool ministry, childrens ministry, student ministry and college ministry in pursuit of effective and efficient performance of their duties.
- Lead and oversee the implementation of The Cross Churchs discipleship and spiritual growth strategy.
- Ensure every person has a clear pathway from first-time guests to fully engaged member.
- Give oversight to curriculum and educational materials.
- Develop systems for group placement, leader care, curriculum selection, and ongoing support.
- Oversee the leadership development philosophy across all ministry areas, ensuring a common set of language, tools, systems, values, and outcomes.
- Implement a leadership development strategy to identify, recruit, train, equip and evaluate group leaders and staff.
- Preach occasionally.
- Celebrate volunteers who exemplify the vision, mission, and values of the church and who multiply.
- Identify, equip, and empower emerging leaders within the discipleship ministry.
- Create opportunities for ongoing leadership training and spiritual development.
- Responsible for the care, inventory and oversight of resources, equipment, supplies and building space as related to the ministry.
- Collaborate with pastors, ministers, and directors to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness to execute the overall vision and mission of the church.
- Weekly attendance to a worship service, staff meetings, ministry team meetings and any other meetings required.
- Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills
- Agreement with The Cross Churchs faith statement and mission to spread His fame by making disciples of all people.
- Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally, including but not limited to I Timothy 3:1-7 and I Peter 5:1-4.
- Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
- Proven ability to develop and disciple congregants and leaders, effectively integrating them into the life and mission of the church.
- A personal conviction and calling to church ministry.
- College degree required.
- Divinity degree required.
- Licensing and/or ordination by a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.
- Three to five years of full-time experience in discipleship ministry at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.
- Passionate about the spiritual formation of adults and families.
- Track record of developing congregants and leaders and assimilating them into the church.
- Passionate about developing leaders and assimilating them into ministry roles of the church.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, equip, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
- Strong written, technical, oratory and creative skills.
- Relational, self-motivated, strong work ethic, organized, dependable, reliable and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- A prayerful, tithing, and participating member of The Cross Church.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
- Ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time required.
- Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks required.
